Gold Star Parents

2 October 2011

Following the ceremony of the "Reading of the Names" of the fallen from New York.

Where do I begin to give Thanks, Today was a very emotional day. A day we honored and remembered our Sons, Daughters, Husbands, Wives, Mothers and Fathers who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our FREEDOM and this great Nation. I would like to THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to my fellow Patriot Guard Rider members, Nam Knights, Family, friends, Gold/Blue Star Moms and Veterans. When I lost my son you were there, When I needed a friend, you were there. Today you were there, I know some of you came from near and far, but you took time out from your jobs, your families, from your busy schedule to be there for us. You can't even imagine what this means to me. I am and always will be truly grateful.
We must never forget the cost and why we do this. As a mother who gave all, I will never forget, I will always Honor and Remember their willingness to give of them selves with no questions asked.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You....EVERYONE

America's 911 Foundation Ride

21 August 2011

After reading this month's newsletter, I wanted to take a few minutes to share some thoughts.  My husband Ken and I were honored to participate in the America's 911 Foundation Ride this year as riders . Last year we greeted the riders with fellow PGR members as they entered NYC through the Holland Tunnel. This year we were able to experience it from a different perspective.

I was in contact with Lucy Christiano and Eddie Esposito as we went through NJ, giving them updates on our location and the progress of the ride. I knew they were excited as they anticipated our arrival...and so was I.  Needless to say, I was not disappointed. The response from our PGR family and friends was phenomenal !!! The flag line was an awesome sight and the cheers could be heard over the sound of the motorcycles. These wonderful people spent hours on hot NYC streets waiting for us on a Saturday night when they could've been doing a myriad of other things. We thank them all with our whole hearts. I'm sure all the riders appreciated the welcome to NYC that they received. Once again, well done my friends!!

The ride itself was inspiring. Patriotism is alive and well in America and the show of support we received brought tears to my eyes. The waving flags, smiles and cheers we saw as we passed through towns, large and small, were something that I wish all Americans could see. The people who waited alongside roads and on overpasses on hot days were truly a sight to behold.

I am proud to have been a part of such a wonderful event. We met great people from all walks of life and different parts of the country. The Foundation people did a super job and were able to assist in any way, when asked. I encourage anyone who has not participated in this ride to go at least once. It is an experience you will not soon forget.

The PGR has brought a new dimension to our lives and we are forever thankful to have found this wonderful organization. We have found new friends who share our love of this awesome country . The wonderful deeds and missions carried out continue to inspire us. Thank you all for what you do.

Sincerely, Karen and Ken Wirth

Hometown Hero Devin Snyder

19 June 2011

How do we thank you all enough for what you did for the Snyder family yesterday in Cohocton!  Or, for that matter, what you have done all week! Your amazing show of support and respect goes way beyond words.  To see you all standing so proudly to honor her, to shield her family, and to bring a measure of comfort through your caring is something this small community will never forget.  You are truly amazing and giving people.  May God Bless You All!

THANK YOU!
Sharyl Longwell
