About the Mission:

The family of US Army Korean War Era & Cold War Veteran Robert M. McKnight has requested Patriot Guard Riders to help honor his military and fire fighting service.
Mr. McKnight is in hospice at home, and the family would like to honor him while he is still with us.

Mr. McKnight served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Air Force from 1953-1957. He had 2 Air Force Specialties: 29531-Radio Intercept Operator, and 70230-Administration Specialist. Mr. McKnight served over 2 years of foreign duty, assigned to the 6911th Radio Squadron Mobile, USAF Security Service at Darmstadt, Germany. He was honorably discharged from active duty on 18 January 1957 with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5), and he earned the following awards: Air Force Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and Occupation Medal (Germany.)

Mr. McKnight served as an engineer for 31 years with NYS Department of Transportation, and he was a long time volunteer fire fighter with the Almond, NY Fire & Rescue Department.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage at the 7-Eleven, with KSU at 2:00 PM to proceed the short distance to the McKnight home on McHenry Valley Road for the honor ceremony.  This is a very short Mission, and the family is very excited about this opportunity to thank their Hero while he is still with us on this Veterans Day weekend.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USAF flag. There is no escort involved in this Mission, and bikes are not necessary if the weather conditions are not good.
