About the Mission:
The family of Andrew Michael "Stretch" Phelan, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Michael, 80, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on November 21, 2025.
Born on June 10, 1945, Andrew lived his entire life in Albany, New York. He attended Albany City Schools and graduated from Albany High School in 1964. He entered active duty in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, on 8 October 1965. He was trained as a Stock Control and Account Specialist (MOS 76P20), and spent the next two years on active duty. His time included a one year tour of duty with Headquarters, Company "A", 704th Maintenance Battalion, 4th Infantry Division operating at Camp Enari, south of Pleiku, South Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4) on 19 August 1967, and for his service, was awarded; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device and Sharpshooter Badge - Rifle (M14).
Upon return from Vietnam, Andrew resumed work with Niagara Mohawk where he spent most of his career as a traveling operator, retiring after 41 years, in 2006.

Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of the cortege and a dignified transfer. Church service is scheduled for 09:30, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
