About the Mission:
The family of Andrew Ole Heggen, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Andrew, aged 72, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born on July 11, 1952, in Troy, New York, Andrew was educated at Averill Park High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enlisted on 30 April 1971 and was trained as a Radio Relay Equipment Repairman (AFSC 30450). He served for 4 years and 7 months on active duty, including almost 2 years assigned to the 1961st Communications Group (AFCS) at Clark Airbase in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant (E-4) and for his service, was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Longevity Servce Award.
After his military service, Andrew was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal where he became a skilled machinist.
