About the Mission:

The family of Joseph A. Kelliher has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.  Joseph, 80, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on October 17, 2023. He was 80 years old.


Born in Boston, and raised in Arlington and Canton, MA, Joe was a devout Catholic and a proud “Double Eagle”, graduating from both Boston College High School and Boston College. He entered the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant on 17 December 1966, and was trained as a Tank Unit Commander (MOS 1203).  He was assigned to Headquarters, 6th Psychological Operations Batallion at Bien Hoa, Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged on 10 November 1968 at the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and for his service, was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device and 2 Overseas Service Bars.

The majority of Joe’s working years were spent with GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals until his retirement in 2003.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stand flag line for calling hour.  After a prayer service, prepare for dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 service.
