About the Mission:
This member of the "Greatest Generation" served honorably in the Pacific Theater, participating in battles at Solomon Islands, Mariana Islands, Palau Islands and Okinawa. He remained in the Corps, being assigned to the 8th & I Marine Corps Barracks in Washington, DC. He was discharged from the service in October 1951. He reached the rank of Corporal, being awarded; Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal w/1 Star, Navy Occupation Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
In civilian life, Mr. Doering worked as a painter/maintenance man for the A&P corporation. He also worked on his own as a painter and a driver for a funeral home. The family has requested Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor him for his service to this country.

Meet with RC Bill Byrne who will organize members on motorcycles to join with Nassau PD motorcycle unit for the escort. Escort will pass several locations on the way to Lady of Mercy RC Church, 500 S. Oyster Bay Rd., Hicksville for a 10am mass. After mass, escort will respond to Calverton National Cemetery.
