About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Veteran Jeffery E. Gillard has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Gillard passed 12 May 2025 at the age of 76 surrounded by his family.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Gillard entered the Army on 19 August 1968. He trained as a Army Air Traffic Control Operator, completing Basic Combat training at Fort Novosel, Alabama. He served his nation for 21 months, including a tour of duty in Vietnam attached to the 313th Aviation Detachment Division, assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged as Specialist 5th Class (E-5) at US Army Personnel Center, Oakland, California on 22 March 1971 with reserve obligation concluding 18 June 1974. For his service Mr. Gillard was awarded; Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device.
