About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam Veteran Robert J. Abt has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his interment at Western New York National Cemetery. Mr. Abt passed at Batavia, NY Veterans Hospital on 4 February 2016 at 71 years old.

Mr. Abt entered the US Army on 19 February 1966, trained as a Rotor Prop Repairman (MOS-68E20) and served 21 months on active duty.  His time included a 12 month tour of duty in Vietnam attached to the 98th Transportation Detachment. Mr. Abt was honorably discharged on 22 November 1967 at US Personnel Center, Oakland, California. For his service to his nation he was awarded; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star and a Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device. Mr. Abt received his military honors on 6 February 2016.

After his service, Mr. Abt worked at and retired from the Ford Stamping Plant in Buffalo, NY.

Special Information:

Members will park at Shelter 1. PGR will process to Shelter 2 to stand a flag line for arriving cortege. Mr. Abt had previously received his military honors. PGR will present plaque and final salute. Thank you for standing for our veteran and his loving family. Bring water none will be provided.
