About the Mission:

The family of Vincent J. "Jimmy" Perry, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Vincent, 92, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in the early morning hours of April 14, 2025.

Born and raised in Albany, NY, Vincent graduated from Albany High in 1951 and enlisted in the US Navy on 20 August of that year. He was trained as a Sonarman and served on active duty for 3 years, 11 months and 22 days. His time included 3 years of sea duty aboard the USS Hailey (DD-556), a Fletcher-class destroyer. He was honorably discharged on 11 August 1955 at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, with a rating of Sonarman 2 (SO2). For his service, he was awarded; Korean Presidential Unit Citation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp) and a United Nations Service Medal.

Upon his return to Albany, Vincent became a licensed beautician, and for 30 years owned and operated his own salon in Loudonville, NY. He was cutting hair well into his 90s. After he sold his shop and eventually retired, Vincent enjoyed working at Albany Park ‘n Fly, and cherished his time filling in wherever needed at McVeigh Funeral Home on North Allen Street.

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for a dignified transfer. Members will escort to St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 for an 11:00 am Funeral Mass. Upon conclusion, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
