About the Mission:

The family of William F. "Bill" McGarry, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. William, 88, passed on Friday, 3 October 2025.

There is no obituary available at this time. Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY, and enlisted in the United States Navy on 27 January 1955. He was trained as a Fireman and served for 2 years and 11 months on active duty during the Cold War Era, including 2 years and 7 months aboard the USS Antietam (CV-36), an Essex-class aircraft carrier. He was honorably discharged on 18 December 1957 with a rating of Fireman.

After his military service, Bill went on to serve his community and was last employed by the Albany County Office of Weights and Measures.  He had previously served as a Police Officer with the Albany Police Department, a firefighter with the Slingerlands Fire Department for over 10 years, and owned and operated Mr. Mac’s Appliance Sales and Repair Store. The family has requested that services for Bill remain private.
