About the Mission:
The family of Vietnam War Era & Cold War Era James "Jim" Joseph Gates has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Gates of Farmington, NY, passed away in Kissimmee, FL on 7 January 2025.
Mr. Gates served our nation in the US Army for 2 years on active duty from 1971-1973, with an Army MOS of Electrical Engineer Assistant & Computer System Operator.
He was assigned to Company C, Headquarters, US Army Strategic Command, Fort Huachuca, Arizona. He received his honorable discharge from active duty on 18 March 1973 with the rank of Specialist Five (E-5), with reserved obligation completed on 18 March 1977. Mr. Gates earned the following awards: Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Cold War Service Commemorative Medal.

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The graveside service and military honors are scheduled for 10:30 AM. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. Please bring your own water and stay sufficiently hydrated.
