About the Mission:
The family of US Air Force veteran Karl M. Oertel has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Oertel passed 24 October 2025 at the age of 73 surrounded by his family.
At the age of 19, Mr. Oertel entered the Air Force in Buffalo, NY on 1 August 1972. He trained as a Heavy Equipment Operator (AFSC 55151) and served his nation for 6 years 11 months on active duty. He was honorably discharged 29 January 1979 at 42nd Engineer Squadron, Loring Air Force Base, Maine. For his service, Mr. Oertel was awarded; Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and an Air Force Longevity Ribbon w/Bronze Service Star.

Members will stand a flag line for arriving family and guests. At 10:20 am, military honors will be conducted. There is no escort or cemetery. Please do what you can to support Mr. Oertel and his loving family. Dress for the weather.
