About the Mission:
The family of James C. English has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. James, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Born on March 20, 1945, James entered active duty in the US Army during the Vietnam War, on 21 April 1967. He was trained as an Ammunition Storage Specialist (MOS 55B20) and served 1 year, 7 1/2 months on active duty, including a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1968, he was wounded in action while assigned to the 630th Ordnance Company near Phu Thanh, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4) on 1 December 1968 and for his service, was awarded; a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/'60 Device, Marksman Badge (M-14) and 1 Overseas Service Bar. He completed his inactive reserve obligation on 20 April 1973.
After his military service, James continued his devotion to his country by remaining a lifelong advocate for veterans as a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans, Boyd-Hilton VFW Post 7062 and the Purple Heart Foundation. He worked for the Town of Duanesburg Highway Department for 28 years, and devoted 15 years to volunteering with the Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
