About the Mission:
The family of Robert E "Bob" Durkee has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 82, passed away suddenly on July 11, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on September 11,1942, in Fort Edward, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force at the onset of the Vietnam War. He enlisted on 13 November 1961 and was trained as a Radio Intercept Analysis Specialist (AFSC R20351). Bob's 3 and 1/2 years of active duty time included a 1 year and 8 month tour of duty assigned to the 6917th Security Group of the United States Air Force, stationed at San Vito dei Normanni Air Station in Italy. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman 2nd Class (E-3), on 20 May 1965, with his inactive reserve obligation completing on 12 November 1967. For his service, Bob was awarded the US Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
Following his military service, Bob embarked on a long and successful career with UPS that spanned 32 years. Never one to remain idle, Bob taught himself computer repair and networking—skills he put to good use working for the Hudson Falls School District and assisting local businesses as well as family and friends.
