About the Mission:

This 101-year-old member of the "Greatest Generation" served from May 1943 to August 1945.  He was designated as a rifleman and assigned to Company "G", 325th Glider Infantry. He was in a glider that was involved in D-Day. The glider crashed and he sustained a wrist injury. He fought at the Battle for the bridge at Lafyette that was important to the D-Day invasion. He sustained wounds on June 12th. He was later involved in the Rhineland offensive that occured in 1945. He attained the rank of Private being awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon w/ 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Glider Badge and Distinguised Unit Badge.

After his service, he became a NY City Police Officer, eventually becoming a detective and retiring in 1980. He enjoyed his retirement playing golf. In December 2024, PGR stood for him at the NY State Veterans Home when he received the Franch Legion of Honor Award. The family has requested Patriot Guard Riders to once again stand for this hero of this country.
